Anderson silva Breaks leg defending UFC Middleweight championship- End of career??
The UFC fight night 168 ended in a horrible accident for Anderson silva who was fighting to win the Middleweight Title against Chris weidmann.
Silva , considered to be one of the greatest fighters of MMA history started the bout with a bad first round. Weidmann considered to be very strong pinned Silva with a takedown and ended up delivering a good round of elbows and punches to Silva . Silva being the fighter that he ended up hurting Weidmann in the not so convincing position of being taken down, with a round of counter-offensive punches which left Weidmann with a bleeding nose.
The commentators at UFC surely spiced up the second round by mentioning that Silva always came back stronger after having a bad first round. It was a couple of good kicks by Silva hurled at Weidmann in the First minute of second round, at this moment the 'commentators curse' as they say hit Silva , who ended up trying to kick Weidmann's leg which was blocked tactfully by weidmann using his knee resulting in Silva breaking his left shin with the visuals showing the the shin bent into 45 degrees. Silva instantaneously dropped to the ground with scathing pain. The match called off TKO.
Just 1 min 16 seconds into the bout Weidmann had won the match and retained his title. The pain for anderson was unbearable and he was almost cryig in pain.
Weidmann later acknowledged the fact that he had been training to avoid the nasty kicks of Silva which are very much his signature by trying to block the kicks with his knee. The technique was wisely sugggested by his trainer. however , he surely had no clue that it would end so terribly bad for Anderson.
The cries of Silva while being taken to hospital were the Worst that many commentators had heard, as per some tweets.
At this moment Silva, a UFC hero , has undergone a surgery in a Local hospital and would need atleast a year for recovery. At 38, the UFC great's career is almost over. Nicknamed the Spider in the ring , UFC will surely miss him and fans like us would be checking his previous bouts on you tube as he will be sorely missed.
However, being the fighter that he is if he makes back to the Octagon it would be a treat for the spectators,fans and fighters alike. And it surely would be one of the Greatest comebacks in the history of Sports.
